Tennessee Family Programs
Cool Kids Activities
- We brighten a dark time by sending customized care packages to children in and out of the hospital. Because a childhood cancer diagnosis impacts the entire family, our care packages include something for parents and siblings as well as the patient.
- Our Birthday Boxes contain everything needed to host a birthday party at home – even a gift!
- Themed hospital room decor kits enable families to decorate a child’s hospital room , making it a little less scary and more like home
- We provide toiletry kits to make unexpected overnight hospital stays more comfortable for parents.
- Connection Magazine is our free publication that provides great resources for parents and fun activities for kids.
- We offer a variety of online programming for parents and kids. Our weekly Tennessee email newsletter makes it easy for families to know what’s available to them.
- All of our programs are provided at no cost to the families we serve!
Vacation Condos
We provide our Cool Kid families with a rent free vacation at one of our two vacation condos away from the stresses of cancer. Priority goes to first time users undergoing active treatment.

Tutoring
About 1/3 of children treated for cancer are held back a year at school This is attributed to time lost from school and the effects of chemo and other treatments on the brain. Cool Kids recognized that parents had very few free options to address this challenge, so we partnered with Brain Bodega to deliver free personalized academic tutoring and mentorship. This service is provided to children currently undergoing treatment for cancer, and/or struggling with the latency effects of treatments. The program is focused on building students’ organizational skills and academic confidence while increasing engagement of students and parents, improving grades and test scores, and improving entire families’ relationships with learning. Our goal is to keep kids at their assigned grade level and help them see that learning can be fun instead of frustrating.
