Are you a Graphic Designer?
From our annual report to Baltimore Magazine ads, there is always something making us wish that we were better at Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. If you are a graphic designer, consider donating your time and talent to help Cool Kids Campaign spread the awareness of pediatric cancer. Most of our projects are small, however, they could make a huge impact for our organization and the ‘cool kids’ we serve. Students are welcome who seek to expand their portfolios.
Experienced Website Coders
The next big upgrade for the website will be for the hundreds of hospitals we work with to be able to log in and update their contact information. We will need experienced coders to set up SQL / database tables and a user back end system.
The internship is with Katie Bennett our Community Relations Coordinator. Katie is tasked with not only coordinating and managing a long list of events and fundraisers throughout the year, but also to be constantly thinking of new ones. In addition, Katie manages our website, database, Facebook Page, running fundraising team, and a host of other tasks. Welcome to the world of small non-profits! There are only four full-time employees, so anybody working with us is certainly not going to be filing papers – we have real work to do and need interns ready for that challenge.
Interns working with Katie will learn: how to manage a high volume daily task list, how to organize and execute events, how support group type programs run, and much more. Our interns participate in staff meetings and in general get experience working in a small office environment. Though it is not required, we do seek interns with design experience. There is also a good deal of physical work required as we do count on our interns to help us set up and break down from all of our events. The number of hours a week can be discussed, but to be considered an intern we are looking for consistency – somebody to come in at least 2-3 days a week for 2-3 hours a day.
We don’t have any required majors or academic areas of focus. Anybody is welcome to apply if they are willing to learn and help others while doing so. There are no specific application deadlines however we only bring on two interns for the fall, spring, and summer respectively. The longer you wait, the higher the risk that we’ve filled the position. If you are trying to get credit for your internship, we’re happy to work with you and the school on that.
Candidates – please email your resume to Katie Bennett.
Each potential volunteer completes a volunteer application, is interviewed by a Cool Kids Campaign staff member, and receives a background check and drug screening. Download the volunteer application here and return please return via email/fax or snail mail to:
